Raathiriyil Poothirukkum

Am glad to introduce Narayanan Raju, an aspiring singer and a dosth of mine through this song :) Narayanan performs with an established Telugu band "Aavakkai" and also with an upcoming band "Sahana" in the Bay area San Francisco area.

Taken a classic hit from the IL stable and given it a shot here. The movie Thanga magan broke records in its own way when it was released. Probably the most famous number in the movie when it released. Hamsaanandhi raagam handled exquisitely by the Maestro.

So, here it is..

Song: Raathiriyil poothirukkum
Movie: Thanga Magan
Music by: Ilayaraaja
Originally sung by: SPB and S Janaki
Cover version by: Narayanan Raju & Meera Manohar

Very nice rendition! Liked some of the brigaas tried out by Narayanan. Meera, you have an amazingly clear voice! Would like to see more posts from you!

Hi Meera,
Very good song, rendered with competence. In the first pallavi, Raju's voice lacked the dynamics, but it picked up later... Right towards the end, you had some "sharp" notes.. Overall, a very good performance, considering that this posting has come after a fairly long gap..
best wishes to you and the little one..

Thanks for letting me know about this duet. I liked both (yours and Narayanan Raju's) voices a lot. The track, the recording and singing are very nice. For some of us, unfamiliar with the language, please provide some background about the essence of the song.

Hey, nice rendition by you guys!! Meera, your voice was wonderful as ever and Narayanan's voice was great. Knowing his voice personally, it felt so apt for the Hamsaanandi.

Looking forward to hearing more duets from you both!

With best wishes,
Krishna

That was one amazing rendition. Couldn't identify with the lyrics though since I am not a Tamilian.

Hi Meera, Sowmya introduced me to your blog and had nothing but praise for your singing. Having heard a couple of your songs, I can say that you are gifted with a good voice with a good sense of music and control.

My only comment will be to be more bolder with your voice to make it stand out more by 'throwing it' here and there if you will!. I want to hear that depth in your voice which will be awesome I am sure.

I am new to blogging too and have posted 3 songs so far. It is a new experience for me and I am discovering things about my own singing in the process which I hope to fine tune as I go along...it is all good experience.

Cheers and will listen to all your songs in due course. Well done!.
