IL's masterpiece

Probably one of the very few songs in recent times that immediately got to me the first time I heard it.

Just so beautifully orchestrated and better, delightfully rendered. Interestingly, I thought Bhavathaarini was *actually* passable in this song :))

Jo & I are collaborating on a song after nearly a year now. I have done all the voices while Jo took on Hariharan's part.

Song: Kaatril Varum geethamae
Movie: Oru Naal Oru Kanavu
Music by: Ilayaraaja
Originally rendered by: Bhavathaarini, Shreya Ghosal, Sadhana Sargam & Hariharan.
Rendered here by: [Me]3 and Jo

A performance that would make the original singers sit and rethink about what they lacked.

A performance that would have made IR realize what he lacked in the original song - your voice.

It is not often that fellow bloggers' renditions make the eyes brim due to their sheer magnificence. I have witnessed similar moments with :

Swati - Daya ghana and barse
Sindhuja - en mel vizundha
Pradip - Shikwe
Jo - nilaavinde
Divya - munbe vaa
Murali Ramanathan - Alankruta
Meera - Viziyil Vizundhu and now this Kaatril

This sits on top of all your renditions put together. Ayush's arrival seems to have unearthed more talent in you.

You are a fabulous artist.

Meera, the singing was perfect...your voice sounded very sweet, as some one has rightly mentioned it was very soothing...I am hearing it the 5th time I guess...great job...the mixing was good and Jo has done a great job too.

Lovely, lovely, lovely!!!
It feels so good to hear a rendition such as this, that fills in the void (w.r.t diction here)in the original. Silken voice, and its so pleasant to hear your thamizh :)
One thing though - I get a feeling your voice has been synthesised - loosely speaking, the "sharpness" could have been reduced. Nevertheless, absolutely beautiful and soulful, and a notch above kanda naal mudhalaai :-)

Wonderful song, superb singing Meera...Keep it up. I feel this is one of your bests till date.

I wish IR listens to you singing. I felt so bad that Bhavatharini got the original !!

Both you and Jo have chosen a masterpiece from IR and sung it very well.

I liked everything about your singing ! Voice, control, emotions ..I can add on.

Keep it up!!!

Meera your voice and singing has become more focussed and serene....
So much of feel is there....Amazing rendition....Jo also pulls through.
This song reminds one of the numerous songs in kalyani that IRR has done like Amma endru, Janani Janani etc. Same rhythm pattern here too.

You have such a beautiful voice! Both of you have sung the song so well. I have not heard the original song - am now wondering if it will match up to the rendition by you both!

Hi Meera,

your rendition of this wonderful song was simply superb! By the way, was this a Karaoke track or did you have any accompanying artistes?

Excellent Meera and Jo, Mixing of meera's voice is also excellent..

Vignesh Subramanian said...

Superb effort.. Makes me think its not the mortal Meera but "The Meera" (as in the tales of Krishna) who sang it. Professional effort.. Congrats.. I would also encourage you to listen to the composing/lyric writing session between Raaja and Vaali (found in the original tracks) in order to realize the 'abstract' situation for this song ["That the heroine feels as if she is transported to Utopia and back"]. Good Luck
With Love

Meera,

That was cool. Very soothing. It was the right balance between trying to stay in tune with the original as well as to be able to put your own feelings in it. Could've done with a little more power in the voice (both yours and the hariharan's). Good one.
