Actually, I left a reply to this rather puzzled Q of yours in Jo's blog.
I am *technically* a Mallu, meaning forefathers being born there, still some folks scattered there, blah blah... Literally speaking, I am a Chennai gal, born and brought up in the good ol' city all along. Been exposed to Mal., movies & songs a bit all along although probably the first time I am singing those in public!
So....guess I consider myself being both Mallu & Tamizh (-:
